Remember Me

We had so much fun using the table planner. It took a while to enter all the guests in to start with, but once we had done that, everything was done for you!! We want to get married again we had so much fun!!

All things considered, the day was a success. Our opinion is that 'planning' was the essential key.

Jodie in her dress

Every detail had been meticulously thought through. From providing the hotel with a spreadsheet detailing the table plan, seating order, menu choices and place names to the timing of everyone knowing where to be and what to do at any given time.

The combined themes of both 'Cala Lily' and 'Scotland' were integrated seamlessly into the whole day, from the invitations to the cake decorations, which showed that many hours had been spent trying to find the 'right item' to make sure everything was 'just right'.

Below you will find a list of all the Wedding Suppliers involved in the days event as well as comments and opinions that we obtained from the various parties involved in the organisation of the wedding. The opinions are not necessarily that of 'Wedding in Jersey'.

  • Attire

For the men, Arimo was the choice to hire suits. The service was good, items were altered to fit, and everything ordered was available to collect at the arranged time. Arimo were chosen due to them carrying stock rather than just brochures.

  • Bridal Gown

The dress, which was simply stunning, was designed by Maggie Sottero and supplied by Stela Lilliana. At the time, they did not have an 'in-house seamstress' which caused stress as any fittings could only be done during the mornings of weekdays only. As the shop is out of town this made it very difficult for anyone working in town to attend a fitting session without taking time off work. We understand that this problem has now been addressed and 'in-house' fitting is charged at £25 per hour.

  • Bridesmaid Dresses

The dresses, which were beautiful, were supplied by Stela Lilliana. They were ordered and delivered within 3 weeks, however, at a later date when a third dress was ordered it actually took 3 months which did not give enough time for it to be sent to Scotland (where the bridesmaid lived) for fitting and had to be quickly fitted three days before the wedding (stressful).

  • Bouquet

This was provided by Appleblossom Florists. Although initially it was felt the bouquet was too 'cream' in colour against the brides white dress, the florist was very quick to remedy the situation with some white flowers and silver fittings. Excellent service and very accomodating.

  • Cake

Sasha, from Creative Confections created the cake which was simply beautiful, both in taste and style. It was delivered to the reception venue on time and placed in the correct place with the correct decorations.

  • Cake decorations

The 'Cake Top' decoration was supplied by Paperlace in Scotland and the Cala Lily base design (which was made from edible sugar) was from Almond Art. Both companies are internet suppliers and provided an excellent service.

  • Chauffeurs

All three chauffeurs from Style Hire were deemed to be very polite, smart, punctual and very willing to help with any arrangements that fell outside the pre-arranged plans.

  • Confetti Bombs

Although several people brought their own confetti a few purchased 'confetti bombs' from Just Write. Once they had mastered how they worked the effect was quite impressive.

  • Church

St Saviour's Church was an excellent location. Nice and cool on a summers day, beautiful ambience with plenty of room for guests. The gardens outside were excellent for photographs, there was ample parking and it's proximity to St Helier made it ideal for guests who had travelled to the island to attend. The Reverend was very professional and good humoured and the Church Choir didn't miss a note. The organist played well. On the down side, the aisle is very narrow, making it a bit of a squeeze for any bride in a large gown and the acoustics were not very good, making it almost impossible to hear the service. Perhaps the sound system wasn't switched on?

  • DJ

The DJ was provided by Spotlight Promotions. He provided an excellent service, played the right tunes, didn't talk too much over the microphone (as so many often do) and seemed to have the right technology for the job. This included a fully computerised system whereby he could select songs from his laptop as opposed to traditional 'decks'. A few people remarked that for the size of venue the sound system was too loud, however the Aerosmith fans disagreed.

  • Favours

Favours were provided by Paperlace in Scotland and the 'presents for the ladies' by Ore Liete in Italy. Both were internet suppliers, and, as is usually the case, the service was excellent, delivery swift and the price reasonable.

  • Flowers

The flowers on the day, both for the wedding party, (bouquet, buttonholes) and at the church and reception were provided by Appleblossom Florists. Given that the bride's choice of flower for the theme was a Cala Lily, they did a superb job at designing table decorations, 'Top Table' display and the Church displays (which many people commented on).

  • Groom

Stevie, the groom, turned up, looked good, got married, received far too many kisses from other women, delivered a brilliant speech and didn't get too drunk.

  • Photographer

The photographer was Joe Bates. His experience proved to be a winner. He had a wonderful gift of making everyone feel at ease which made for some classic photographs that will be treasured. The photographs were ready to view within two days in a beautiful silver & white folder.

  • Presents

The gift of a Porcelain Cala Lily on a silver stem presented to all the ladies at the end of the Wedding Breakfast was supplied by Ore Liete in Italy. Again, discovered over the internet, the service was very good. Despite the language difficulties, Italo, the proprietor, made every effort to ensure that each item was packed properly and shipped safely.

  • Reception (Wedding Breakfast)

The Hotel L'Horizon has considerable experience in holding such events, and it showed. The planning was excellent, the reception room was as expected, the staff were courteous and the food was superb. They looked after everything when everyone else was too drunk to worry, such as cards and gifts and cake! Everything that mattered was safely taken away at the end of the day for collection later. Unfortunately, there seemed to be far to many ways in which children could wander off around and out of the hotel making it slightly stressful for those with 'little ones', however all in all, a superb venue which came into its own on a glorious summer day, however, due to the bride and groom being allocated the wrong room and someone else benefiting from the sea view and champagne the rating is lower than it should be.

  • Stationary

Stationary was provided by Caxtons. Excellent friendly service.

  • Transport

Transport was provided by Style Hire. Two white Mercedes and One white Rolls Royce, all dressed with the correct colour ribbons. Very professional and experienced service.
